Make the introduction voluntary
Give a satisfied client a public business contact link or card they can share if they choose. Let the interested person initiate contact. Avoid creating a prospect record from a third party’s health or financial story. A recommendation from a friend is not a substitute for the individual’s own permission and preferences.
Know the Medicare boundary
Medicare.gov says agents cannot ask beneficiaries for friends’ or relatives’ names, phone numbers or addresses to market to them. It permits leaving business cards for sharing. Use that distinction when designing a referral conversation: share a way to reach you rather than requesting a list of people to call.
Separate business offers from insurance decisions
An agent’s MedFE wallet promotion concerns buying lead inventory. It is not a benefit of a Medicare plan or an incentive for a consumer to enroll. Do not convert a business coupon into a consumer enrollment reward. Have your organization review any proposed referral compensation before promoting it.
Track the source without oversharing
When someone contacts you, ask how they found the agency if appropriate. Record only what your business needs for attribution. Thank the person who shared your details without disclosing whether their friend applied, qualified, purchased or discussed a health condition.
